Elevate Basketball Academy hit the hardwood Friday for Day 1 of the Taos Mountain Fiesta Tournament, opening the day with a tough test against a well-coached Northern New Mexico Nightmare squad. EBA struggled to find rhythm early, falling short in the opening matchup.
But the boys bounced back in a big way.
In the afternoon session, EBA came out refocused and energized, cruising to a dominant 71-42 victory over the Taos Tigers. The offense was firing on all cylinders, with Mikey Anthony leading the way with 20 points. Mateo Montoya poured in 19 of his own, and Buster Salazar added 18 in a strong all-around performance. Both games were played at Taos High School, and the energy in the gym was high all day long.
With the win, EBA secured second place in their pool and punched their ticket to bracket play. They’ll take on a tough Rio Rancho Splash City team tomorrow morning at 8:00am at Taos Middle School.
Let’s get after it. #ElevateEveryday #EBAHoops #TaosMountainFiesta
